~ In a groundbreaking move, Concorde Career Colleges and Heartland Dental have announced a first-of-its-kind partnership to establish a co-branded campus for dental hygiene and dental assistant programs. This collaboration between the healthcare education division of Universal Technical Institute, Inc. and one of the largest dental support organizations in the nation aims to address the significant demand for these professionals in specific markets.
The first campus is set to open in Fort Myers, Florida in fall 2025 and will train up to 120 dental hygienists and 72 dental assistants annually. The curriculum, instructors, and student support services will be provided by Concorde, while Heartland Dental will fund the total cost of construction, including durable equipment and initial supplies. Additionally, the company will offer scholarships to students.
According to Pat Bauer, President and CEO of Heartland Dental, investing in education and providing opportunities for individuals to grow their skills has always been at the core of their values. He believes that this partnership with Concorde is a testament to their commitment towards this goal. "We know there is a strong need in the communities we serve for dental care, and the opportunity to establish a co-branded campus with Concorde to help meet this need with skilled dental hygienists and dental assistants is remarkable," shared Bauer.

The demand for dental hygienists and assistants is projected to grow by 7% nationwide from 2022-2032 according to Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, in states where Concorde has multiple campuses like Florida, the demand is significantly higher with a projected job growth of 15.8% and 15.7% for dental hygienists and assistants respectively from 2023-2031 according to the Florida Department of Commerce.
Currently, Concorde has more than 1,900 students enrolled in their dental hygiene and dental assisting programs offered at 14 and 16 of their 17 campus locations respectively. The institution's curriculum combines online and on-ground coursework with hands-on lab instruction and clinical experience to prepare students for the dental industry in as little as 17 months for dental hygiene and eight months for dental assisting.
