NAYARIT, Mexico - eTravelWire -- The Tianguis Turístico México is the most important annual tourism business forum in Mexico, bringing thousands of domestic and international participants to its events each year.
At this year's Tianguis Turístico, the state of Nayarit is represented by a delegation whose objective is to reaffirm its diversity in offerings, inviting everyone to experience the destination. Headed by Juan Enrique Suarez del Real Tostado, minister of tourism delegations, Nayarit is participating in special events aiming to highlight its increase in farming and cultivation production; the reincorporation of traditional candies, liquors and costumes; and natural and adventure offerings, as wells as its history, archaeology and gastronomy scenes, anchored by its internationally renowned destination of the Riviera Nayarit. These, under its tourism campaigns "Awaken Paradise" for the Riviera Nayarit and "Mexico to Discover" for the entire state.
At Tianguis, Nayarit also is announcing preparations to welcome thousands of athletes and visitors to a series of sporting events that will highlight the state's natural beauty and diversity. The Nayarit Tourism Secretariat and Sabino Producciones are together organizing an impressive agenda of activities — one being the second annual IRONMAN 70.3 Riviera Nayarit — to attract both Mexican and international athletes, promoting state as an ideal destination for sports tourism.

In addition, the Nayarit is promoting the imminent debut of a second landing strip at Riviera Nayarit International Airport, expected to be fully operational early in 2025. The airport will introduce a new route to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) beginning July 16, connecting the west coast of the U.S. and Canada to the state's capital. Earlier this year, a new route from Mexico City began and now connects Nayarit to South America and Europe.
Nayarit's hotel sector is also experiencing unprecedented growth, with at least 10 new openings planned by 2026. Major hotel investors — including AMResorts, Grupo Vidanta, Marriott International and Melia Hotels International Group — are spearheading this expansion. Family-friendly hotels and attractions such as Iberostar Grand and the Cirque du Soleil theme park will enhance Nayarit's appeal as a premier destination for all ages. Development plans also include opening Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Westin, Autograph Collection and Ritz-Carlton properties. Melia will introduce the Gran Melia Hotel in Riviera Nayarit, with 180 rooms and suites, and the Hotel Zel Sayulita in 2025. The Belmont brand, meanwhile, will debut its Milaroca hotel in 2025, while Montage and Pendry are slated to open within the Punta Mita complex in 2026.
