Professional Organizers Release a New Book to Address Hoarding-Like Behaviors and Chronic Disorganization In Your Home and For Your Loved Ones

TUCKER, Ga. - eTravelWire -- Authors, professional organizers, and co-owners Diane Quintana, CPO-CD(R) and Jonda S. Beattie, M. Ed., released an innovative new book today to address Hoarding-like behaviors and Chronic Disorganization entitled Filled Up and Overflowing: What to Do When Life Events, Chronic Disorganization or Hoarding Go Overboard through their company Release Repurpose Reorganize LLC. With more than 30 years of experience as professional organizers working with clients affected by Chronic Disorganization or a Hoarding diagnosis, the authors wrote this book for the "rest of us" who realistically will never be able to organize their homes, offices or lives in four hours or less.

"We recognize that the person is NOT their behavior. The person has a problem which can be either solved or coped with. We use 'person first' language, not labels. We recommend time-based solutions," says Diane Quintana. "We break each project down into small parts and help our client make a plan to do each step. Then we work with the client to set an intention and assign a date to aspire to by which the individual step is done."

The book was written to help individuals and their family members, friends, spouses and loved ones find answers to questions and concerns about the safety and comfort of the "stuff" in their space. Unlike other organizers and organizing books, this book is designed to support individuals who would prefer to work with professionals or loved ones who want to listen to them and discover their needs instead of being overwhelmed by the process -- and the individual who genuinely wants to help.

"We look for our client's 'why'. We see the problem (the disorganized space) and patiently ask questions," says Jonda S. Beattie. "We listen for the underlying desire and work with the client to find the solution without traumatizing them. We aim for 'simplicity.' The personalized, client-directed organizing system that is provided must be straight forward, user-friendly, and easy to maintain by the person or the person will not use it."

This book is also for social workers, psychologists, mental health providers, other professional organizers, and first responders who work with and treat individuals with these behaviors and conditions.

Inside, readers will learn about real-life examples of people diagnosed with Hoarding Disorder versus those exhibiting Hoarding-like behaviors, Chronic Disorganization, and situational hoarding as a result of life events, as well as diagnoses of ADD, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, anxiety and depression. Both authors have experienced almost every kind of life event you can imagine: death of a loved one, divorce, moving – to Asia with children and pets, downsizing, marriage as a senior – combining two households, caring for an aging family member with an illness, and more.

This book benefits readers of every age and stage of life:
  • millennials who are struggling to keep their apartments and homes organized amidst the constant pressure and overwhelming nature of their work schedules and lives
  • those who suddenly have infants and children in their homes
  • those who have collectibles they don't know how to let go of that fill up their homes until they are overflowing
  • those who are aging and become elderly or incapacitated who have loved ones who want them to be safe and able to be retrieved or rescued from their homes by first responders when required

Readers will find the information and guidance they need to better understand how to best approach helping themselves and their loved ones feel safe and comfortable in their space.
